Our RIO meeting was so much fun tonight. Jessica Chen showed us her published article, way to go Jessica! Lelainna was able to proove that she was published to her class by showing them our back issue E-Zines. Mary Jean Uszy came by and taught us how to write songs and helped us come up with some cool theme song lyrics. Coming soon - the RIO theme song. I can't wait to post it. Thanks again for coming out MJ!

Don't miss this Monday's meeting. We will be writing a RIO theme song and learning about song writing with Mary Jean Uszy. I can't wait. This will be like fun to the 100000 power.
The RIO kids were spotted this past Saturday at the Open Mic hosted by APCWW for Youth Week. Emily, Angela, Olive, and Mary came out to read. James came by to cheer them on and won a door prize in the process. Not only did they do an amazing job of reading their own poetry, they performed commercials (Brought to you by the Company - because there's nothing wrong with you that we can't fix), and even created an on the spot poem which will be posted in the May E-Zine. I am so proud of these young ladies who braved the stage and strutted their literary stuff showing the crowed that they are definitely part of the Calgary writing community.
Congratulations again girls! Picture below: Jamie Lewis from APCWW with our RIO crowd. Click on the picture to find out more about APCWW When Emily and I hashed out the idea of a kids' writing club I never thought it would become so big or so popular. Not only did we increase our meetings this year but come summer we will be holding not one, but two summer camps. Both are priced very low because I know as writing kids you want to go to as many camps as possible and learn as much as you can without having your parents go broke. So come and join us at what basically amounts to a week long RIO meeting. Scary, huh? If you can dream it, we can probably do it, all you need is a notebook and pen.
Yes the APRIL E-Zine is finally here. Everyone can start Luffing. We have commercials, products, poetry, pictures, art and random instructions. Something for everyone. So run! Don't walk! Into your computer and have a look at this month's E-Zine. April IS the month for Adventure.
We at RIO have been having so many awesome adventures that our April E-zine is running a little late. Check back with us on Wednesday and we should have it up. Be prepared to see how much fun we've been having this past week. Also there will be amazing new products and some cool adverts.
Wait for it.... it will all be worth it. |
