I try to see but I'm blinded by the white light

I can hear my heart pounding in my chest, even over the deafening roar of the flames surrounding me. All I can see is the faces of my family, terror frozen on their charred faces even in death.
I can't remember how
I can't remember why I'm lying here tonight
I wake up in the hospital, an oxygen mask covering my face.
The nurse standing across the room looks up at me and smiles a small, sad smile. I don't see her lips move, but I swear she whispered, "I'm sorry, sweetie."
And I can't stand the pain

My feet barely touch the ground as I fly up the stairs.
He had broken bones this time. Well, more bones. The beatings I constantly received from my uncle were getting more violent every day.
I slam the door behind me. No one needs to see me cry. Clutching Niko's battered black hat to my chest, I closed the shutters on my windows, one thing running through my mind -

With my darling Bella tucked under my arm, I can't help but to think of how much she reminds me of my mother. The fiery attitude, the inability to keep her mouth shut. It had been so long, I barely even remember what she looked like. I didn't even try to stop the tear that silently ran down my cheek.
I'm sick of this life
I just wanna scream
How could this happen to me?

"Oh, quit being a such a scaredy cat!" Bella calls back to me.
"I... I don't think that this is a good idea..."
"Well, of course it isn't! That's what makes it fun!" Yeah. Walking around near the edge of an icy cliff is very fun. Especially when you're a fire dragon.
I knew that I should've stopped her. I should've grabbed her before she slipped. But she did, and there was nothing that I could do to stop it from happening.
Everybody's screaming
The only thing that I could hear was her shriek as she fell.
It all happened in slow motion. It felt like it took me hours to reach the spot where she went over. I kept hoping that there was a ledge that caught her, maybe a tree branch or something. But, alas, life is a cruel game.
I try to make a sound but no one hears me
I'm slipping off the edge
I'm hanging by a thread
I do the only thing I could. I jump.
I wanna start this over again
When I saw the broken body of my lover lying sprawled across the rocks, I died. I died on the inside, not that there was much of me alive in the first place.
So I try to hold onto a time when nothing mattered
And I can't explain what happened
And I can't erase the things that I've done
No, I can't
As I sit there with her head in my lap, her shallow breathing the only sign that she is alive, I regret becoming a hitman. I regret killing all of those men. But, most of all, I regret ever meeting Bellatora. And, when those silent breaths stop coming, I say something I should have told her a long time ago. "I love you…"

Tears sting my eyes as I bury my face in Black Jack's thick mane to muffle my sobs.
Bella only left one thing behind. The one thing that I had left to live for. Our son, Bahati.
He sits in my lap, wrapped in a wool blanket from Bella's neighbor. He will never get to meet her, because we're leaving that town, and we're never going back.
Too many memories. Too many awful, heart wrenching memories.

I fall asleep with Bahati in my arms. Black Jack keeps going. He knows where we're headed.
