Ninja Poetry from the Youth Write CPL Writing Conference

Poems by Olive and Sarena

ON EAR
How I do love thee
The splendor the sounds
Is rarely a cacophony
I love how you hear all the sounds from the start
Like the honking of cars
Or the beating of my heart

SOUND
Shuffle, shuffle
Beep, beep, beep
Swish, slam
Crash

SWIMMING IN A POND
Swimming in a pond
The lily pad sits undisturbed
Long tongue lies in wait
To catch a fly would be great
Yummy, a big midnight snack

MILK
Milk is a cow’s juice
A perfect pair for Oreos
A gift to all people

CRYSTAL
Crystal was a girl with hair
And she had a tasty pear
But then one night
She had a fright
Because her dress had a ridiculous tear

Poems by Raeesa and Emily

SANDY SKIES
Sandy skies, that’s not right
Ground filled with air, that’s not right
Never have my dreams been this unreal . . .
Or seeming right

GOOD BYE
Good bye my homeland
Will I return or parish?
War of the lands
My home land guiding
Me home again
Fall turns to winter quickly

ODE TO MY HEAD
My head has
Been with me
For 10 years
My head has thought this up

BOOM
Clump, Clump
Thonk, Crash
Boom!

AT NOON
Happy, sad I cry when
Things go wrong we misbehave and
Fool around at noon

Jail Break - A Space Comedy

Dr. Void is planning to take over the universe. She has the facility, the prisoners, and an experimental serum which will create the ultimate super powered soldier. How can her plan fail? Well if Alex, the emotionally unstable spy, and Ralph, the clumsy but reassuring robot, have anything to say about it, it will. They set about to rescue their fellow spies Lynx, Vivian, and Sierra, but when the girls are turned evil by Dr. Void’s serum and space pirates are set loose from prison it’s anyone’s guess if Alex will succeed.

The Spring Dramantics Theatre Camp was a hit as always. Monday was spent writing the script. Tuesday we made the set. Wednesday we finished making the set. Thursday we had the play memorised. And Friday was the dress rehearsal and the performance. It was great! Next camp we will be at the end July and the beginning of August performing at the Calgary Fringe Festival. Join us for an insane week of writing and theatre! It’s an adventure you won’t soon forget.
