MJ Uszy - Creating Character

So this past month we had a visit from MJ Uszy. She taught us how to bring a character to life. Here's some of the results:

Meiko Skane: I have no idea what my parents' upbringing was like as they died before they told me. I have a sibling called Kaito and haven't received much education though I can survive on streets. I'm a terrible drunk, but in pretty good health never the less. All significant relationships started for me when the Empress recruited me as a knight. I'm twenty-two years old, and two hundred pounds including armor. I think I can most closely be compared to a bear because I am fierce. My biggest success was when I joined Len to save his sister. It was a great choice. I seem to be a bit happier now, but quite a few people have died and we are no closer to getting Len's sister.

Mad Hatter: I live in Wonderland some where in the 1800's. All I want is the perfect hat and I can live to be happy. I would like this to happen immediately because now is when the story takes place. If I don't get it now, Alice will die and I'll be sad. My entire goal is to keep Alice safe - oh, and staying classy too. I just have to overcome the Red Queen, the Jabberwocky, etc.

Hermione Granger:
I am a wizard in Griffindor and right now I'm in the kitchen. It's 6:00 PM and I've just come from the bathroom. I want a cookie because I am hungry. I AM HUNGRY! Let's just say, if I don't get my cookie there will be fighting and attacking. I really want a cookie.

Bern: I am 199 years old, and fat with gray hair. My parents were mean and raised me with anger and rage. My only other sibling is the old granny with no teeth. The only education I received was how to be mean. I have very bad health. I eat cookies for a living. I enjoy mowing lawns with suitcases and yelling at children. Actually, scratch that, I enjoy nothing because I had a terrible childhood. I weigh 1086 pounds and I'm three feet tall. I wear old lady clothes that my wife, Meanie, throws out of the windows. I don't brush my hair.

Song Writing with Kris Demeanor

Poet Laureate of Calgary, Kris Demeanor, came in to demonstrate his awesome talent in spoken word and song writing. We, at RIO, then tried our hand at it. Here are some of the results.

Lyrics by Mary Innes

There is a reason we never sleep
In the morning I’ll find my world
Swirling through sands of time
They sparkly nerdy angels fallen down.
Sherlock Holmes godlier.
When I dream I am up in the air
Soaring 3D maneuver
Kill the Hlans
All of them
Swim to be free

I vanish
The internet is a portal through time and
Space TARDIS assassins Deadpool
Anthropomorphic personification of countries.
I am the echelon.
Up in the Air
The dish on the back of four elephants
On the back of a turtle.

Lyrics by Olive DiCintio
I ship Jon King even though
You’re stuck
Locked in a closet
Not for a game of
Seven minutes in heaven
But a game of hide and seek
Only found by those who
Look past the masks
Only found by those
Nerdy enough to look

Lyrics by Teighan Jones (Loki)
Cures you Hossie
Curse you Moffat
Curse you everyone else who has killed my OTP
Or
My favorite character
