PLACES TO LEARN YOUR CRAFT
Fall to Spring at the AWCS
YOUth Riot
QUEER ART. QUEER SPACE. QUEER YOU.Through the generous sponsorship of The Chinook Fund and The Harry and Martha Cohen Foundation, Alberta Playwrights’ Network (APN) is hosting our 8th annual YOUth Riot program beginning in November 2023.
Originally conceived and presented with Third Street Theatre, APN is proud to offer this FREE program to 2SLGBTQIA+ youth between the ages of 14 - 21.
YOUth Riot 2023 will be a 5-session creative writing program where participants will meet with guest artists who will help them learn creative writing skills. This is also a great opportunity to meet other queer youth while creating and imagining in a safe space.
YOUth Riot 2022 will culminate in a weekend masterclass from a prominent, national queer artist. Participants will also be provided with an opportunity to share their work with the public at the end of the process by having their work presented by professional actors and directors from the theatre community.
This year, because the program will be offered online via Zoom, we are extending this invitation to queer youth from across the province regardless of their location.
We want to hear your story.
Deadline to apply: October 31
